How long have been at TBSSS?  

I have been coming to TBSSS since January 2018

What do you do when you’re not sculpting? 

I work as a film writer/director. I recently finished my first feature length documentary, Love Opera, about what it takes to be an opera star as young singers in an Australian opera school rehearse for a performance of Carmen. The film has been selected for Cannes Cinephiles and will be released later this year. I also have a love of stills photography - in particular black and white film - and spend a lot of time in the dark room experimenting with old photographic processes.

What made you take up sculpting?

I was drawn to sculpting as a form of tactile, creative expression. Filmmaking can be a very slow, cerebral experience involving many people, with often years spent developing an idea. I find that sculpture allows me to be immediate and expressive. Coming to Wendy’s Wednesday class has really brought me in contact with so many amazing people. I find the whole experience very rewarding and nurturing.

Tell us about what you’re working on currently… I am currently finishing a small figurative sculpture of a reclining woman and also experimenting with patinas for my father’s bust.
